Description

just a wip on the Chibimoon brooch I was supposed to finish ages ago, but didn't U_U.

Consists of:
-polymer clay heart base (made it using a regular plastic mold you can find in a shop)
-two-part putty material (brownish colour) for the faceted front (Unfortunately, making a faceted crystal was too hard for me, so I just dabbed on the front and made a fly-eye-like texture, hoping it will reflect the light nicely when it's translucent and that if will RESEMBLE the faceted front thats hould be there U_U
-wings and star are from resin, but first I shaped them in polymer clay and took a form using duplicate gel, since polymer clay was brittle and would break in half when I tried to attatch it under that angle to the rest.
all conjoined with two-part putty (water soluble).

I still need to add more putty at the back, between the wings and the heart, for more support and add the ball at the bottom and then cover it all with resin coat for nice gloss prior to molding :)
I will make the fist mold in duplicating agar gel (used by dentists, it's quite cheap), make a one-piece gray resin mother, sand what needs to be sanded and gloss again and then step onto sillicone mold (more expensive than gel) and cast in pink translucent polyester, I hope?
we'll see. I will probably finish it in 2 years or so beacuse I'm not in the mood for doing it all now, haha :XD:
I hate the fact that I start so many things, and get bored with them and leave them, do you happen to do the same?? :XD:

All the best

the use of the fly-eye-like texture definitely gives it the faceted jewel look that it needs to have. :) Good idea to use that texture, it definitely works.
